MAMCO is an acronym for Musical Accessory Manufacturing Company. The goal and purpose of the company is to provide quality musical accessory products that are not gimmicks, but products that make a difference to the player. This company was started in l987 by Charles King and Jay Himmel who were both musical instrument repair technicians for King Band Instrument Repair Service in Atlanta, Georgia USA. The repair company, started by Eddie King in 1929, served as a learning and thinking ground for many of the products; their needs, development and purpose. Being repair technicians has allowed the observation and discussion with thousands of musicians, from beginners to top professional performers, to determine specific needs and desires of players along with the knowledge of how instruments are made, repaired and played. This combination has given MAMCO a unique insight to their products. As is well known, many products have been made and sold on the
market that are of little quality, a lot of 'flash' and no actual
advantage to the musican... MAMCO only wants to present products
that would make an actual difference to the playability/performance
of the instrument and the musician. |
